  Association of Caribbean Occupational Therapist
                                 Membership Information
The Association of Caribbean Occupational Therapists (ACOT) was formed in 1991 with a small group of committed OTs who recognized the need to forge alliances within the region to advance the profession of Occupational Therapy in the Caribbean.

The objectives of ACOT include:
  • Encourage the development of the profession in the Caribbean
  • Promote the establishment of an Occupational Therapy training programme in the English-speaking Caribbean
  • Link with regional governments and NGOs to expand the scope of the profession
  • Facilitate professional growth and development through scientific conferences, workshops and continuing education programmes
  • Provide communication links and support systems among Caribbean Occupational Therapists many of whom work in extreme professional isolation
  • Publish a newsletter regularly to exchange technical and professional information
  • Establish links with the World Federation of Occupational Therapists and with national Occupational Therapy associations
  • Organize professional scientific conferences to promote dialogue and expand therapeutic knowledge and expertise.
We are  in the process of expanding our horizon and incorporating other countries of the Caribbean so the Association can benefit from further expertise and share a common vision amongst Caribbean OTs. ACOT consists of the following member countries: Anguilla, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Haiti, Bahamas and Sint Maarten. We have associate members in Canada and The United States.

There are three categories of members of ACOT:
  1. National Association Membership - Regional Occupational Therapy Associations
  2. Ordinary Members – Occupational therapists in the Caribbean region seeking professional growth, networking and opportunities to support the advancement of OT in the region (50 USD)
  3. Associate Members - Occupational therapists outside the Caribbean region, occupational therapy assistants and allied health professionals interested in networking, knowledge sharing and staying connected to OT in the Caribbean region (30 USD)
  4. Student Members - Occupational therapy students looking to access mentorship, resources and networking opportunities while building their professional foundation. (30 USD)
